Bijoy to Unicode Converter

Paste text that was typed with Bijoy in a SutonnyMJ font and convert it to standard Unicode Bangla. Pre-base vowel signs and reph are moved back to Unicode order, so the text displays correctly everywhere and can be searched.

How to use the Bijoy to Unicode Converter

  1. Copy text from a Bijoy document while it is in a SutonnyMJ font.
  2. Paste it into the input box (it will look like Latin letters).
  3. Read the Unicode Bangla output on the right.
  4. Copy or download the result for use on the web or in email.

Frequently asked questions

Why should I convert Bijoy text to Unicode?

Unicode Bangla works on phones, websites, Facebook and search engines without special fonts. Bijoy text only displays correctly with a Bijoy font installed.

My text came out with a few wrong letters — why?

Different Bijoy-based fonts sometimes use slightly different codes for rare conjuncts. The common SutonnyMJ codes are supported; check unusual juktakkhor after converting.

Does it work with text copied from PDFs?

It works when the PDF text was stored in Bijoy encoding and copies as Latin letters. Some PDFs store glyphs in a way that cannot be copied as text at all.
