Frequently asked questions

What is the largest number supported?

999,999,999,999,999 (just under 1,000 trillion), with up to 10 decimal places.

How are decimals written?

For plain numbers, digits after the point are read one by one (3.05 = three point zero five). With a currency, the decimals are rounded to two places and written as paisa or cents.

How does the lakh and crore system work?

1 lakh = 100,000 and 1 crore = 10,000,000. So 12,345,678 is written as one crore twenty-three lakh forty-five thousand six hundred seventy-eight.

Are the Bangla words for 1–99 correct?

Yes. Bangla numbers from 1 to 99 are irregular, so each one is listed individually (for example ৪২ is বিয়াল্লিশ and ৮৮ is অষ্টাশি).
