Frequently asked questions
Is 20% + 10% off the same as 30% off?
No. Stacked discounts multiply: 20% then 10% off leaves 0.8 × 0.9 = 72% of the price, which is a 28% total discount.
Is tax calculated before or after the discount?
This calculator applies tax to the discounted price, which is how most shops charge it. Local rules can differ.
Can I calculate the original price from a sale price?
Divide the sale price by (1 − discount ÷ 100). For example, a 75 sale price at 25% off was originally 75 ÷ 0.75 = 100.
