Frequently asked questions
Should the tip be on the amount before or after tax?
Customs vary. Many people tip on the pre-tax amount; enter whichever amount you want the tip based on.
What does rounding up do?
Each person's share is rounded up to the next whole amount. The extra money is added to the tip, and the actual tip percentage is shown.
How much should I tip?
It depends on the country and the service. This tool does the maths for any percentage you choose; it does not recommend an amount.
