Frequently asked questions

How is keyword density calculated?

Density = number of times the phrase occurs ÷ total words in the text × 100. For example, 6 occurrences in 300 words is 2%.

What is the ideal keyword density?

There is no ideal figure, and search engines do not rank pages by density. Write naturally for readers; very high repetition can read as spam.

Why are some 2- and 3-word phrases missing?

Only phrases that appear at least twice are listed, and phrases cannot start or end with a stop word when stop-word exclusion is on. This removes noise like "of the".
