Frequently asked questions
What is amortization?
Amortization is paying a loan off with equal payments over time. Each payment covers that month's interest first, and the rest reduces the balance.
How does an extra payment save money?
Extra money goes straight to principal, so the balance falls faster and less interest is charged in every later month.
Does my lender allow overpayments?
Some loans charge early-repayment fees or limit overpayments, so check your agreement. Results are estimates for planning and education, not financial advice.
