Brick Calculator

Enter the wall length and height, choose half-brick or one-brick thickness and pick a brick size — standard metric 190 × 90 × 90 mm, modular/Bangladesh 240 × 115 × 70 mm, or your own. Deduct doors and windows, set the mortar joint and wastage, and get the number of bricks to order, wet mortar volume and the cement bags and sand needed for your mortar mix.

How to use the Brick Calculator

Frequently asked questions

How many bricks are in one square metre?

For a half-brick wall: 1 ÷ ((brick length + joint) × (brick height + joint)). With 240 × 70 mm bricks and 10 mm joints that is 1 ÷ (0.25 × 0.08) = 50 bricks per m²; a one-brick wall needs twice as many.

How is the mortar quantity worked out?

Wet mortar = wall volume − the volume of the bricks. Cement and sand are then estimated using a dry-volume factor of 1.33 and your chosen mix ratio.

How much wastage should I allow?

Around 5% for careful work and up to 10% where many cuts, breakages or rough handling are expected.

Are the results exact?

They are estimates. Bond pattern, frogged bricks, joint thickness on site and corners all change the real quantities.
