Pomodoro Timer

Work in focused sessions separated by short breaks, with a longer break after every few sessions. Set your own focus, short-break and long-break lengths, choose whether the next phase starts automatically, and get a chime and optional desktop notification when time is up. The timer uses the system clock, so it stays accurate even when the tab is in the background, and the page title shows the time left.

How to use the Pomodoro Timer

  1. Adjust the focus and break lengths if you want, then press Save settings.
  2. Press Start to begin a focus session.
  3. When the chime sounds, take the suggested short or long break.
  4. Turn on notifications to be alerted when you are in another tab.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Pomodoro Technique?

A time-management method: work for a set period (traditionally 25 minutes), take a short break (5 minutes), and after four sessions take a longer break (15–30 minutes).

Will the timer keep running if I switch tabs?

Yes. It calculates the time left from the system clock rather than counting ticks, so it stays correct even when the browser slows background tabs.

Why don’t I hear the chime?

Browsers only allow sound after you interact with the page. Press Start or Test sound once, and check that the tab is not muted.
