Password Generator

Generate a strong password with your browser’s cryptographic random number generator. Choose the length and which character sets to use, exclude look-alike characters such as l, 1 and O, and guarantee that every selected type appears. The strength meter shows the entropy in bits and an estimate of how long a brute-force attack would take.

How to use the Password Generator

  1. Set the length with the slider or the number box.
  2. Choose uppercase, lowercase, numbers and symbols.
  3. Optionally exclude look-alike or specific characters.
  4. Press Generate new until you like the result, then Copy.

Frequently asked questions

How long should my password be?

For accounts protected by a password manager, 16 or more random characters is a good default. Longer is always stronger; length matters more than complexity.

Is this generator truly random?

It uses crypto.getRandomValues, the browser’s cryptographically secure generator, and rejection sampling so that every allowed character is equally likely.

What does the entropy number mean?

Entropy measures unpredictability: each extra bit doubles the number of guesses an attacker needs. Around 60 bits is fair, and 80+ bits is strong for online accounts.

Are generated passwords stored anywhere?

No. Nothing is saved or sent; the password exists only on this page until you copy it.
