Frequently asked questions

How are words counted?

A word is any run of letters or digits. Contractions such as "isn't" and hyphenated words such as "well-known" count as one word.

How is reading time estimated?

Reading time uses an average adult silent-reading speed of about 238 words per minute; speaking time uses 150 words per minute.

Does it count emoji correctly?

Yes. Characters are counted as you see them, so an emoji or a combined Bangla letter counts as one character.
