Text Sorter

Sort any list line by line: A to Z, Z to A, natural order (so "item2" comes before "item10"), by line length or in reverse. You can also shuffle lines using your browser's cryptographic random generator, remove duplicates and empty lines, and choose whether case matters.

How to use the Text Sorter

  1. Paste your list with one item per line.
  2. Choose a sort order from the menu.
  3. Tick options such as ignore case or remove duplicates.
  4. For shuffle, press "Shuffle lines" — press again for a new order.
  5. Copy or download the sorted list.

Frequently asked questions

What is natural sort?

Natural sort compares numbers inside text by their value, so "Chapter 2" comes before "Chapter 10". Plain alphabetical sorting would put "Chapter 10" first.

How random is the shuffle?

It uses the Fisher–Yates algorithm with numbers from your browser's crypto.getRandomValues, so every order is equally likely.

Does ignore case affect duplicate removal?

Yes. With ignore case on, "Apple" and "apple" are treated as duplicates and only the first is kept.
