Frequently asked questions

Can I convert to GIF or BMP?

No. Browsers can read these formats but only encode PNG, JPEG and WebP, so those are the available outputs.

What happens to transparency?

PNG and WebP keep it by default. JPEG has no transparency, so transparent pixels are filled with the background colour you choose.

Which format should I choose?

WebP is usually smallest for the web, JPEG is the most compatible for photos, and PNG is best for screenshots, logos and graphics with sharp edges.
