Frequently asked questions

What happens to transparent backgrounds?

JPG cannot store transparency, so those areas are filled with the background colour you pick (white by default).

Why does text look slightly blurry?

JPEG compression softens sharp edges. Use a higher quality for screenshots, or keep PNG for images with lots of text.

How much smaller will my file be?

It depends on the image. Photos usually shrink a lot, while simple graphics with flat colours may shrink less or even grow.
