Frequently asked questions
Is WebP supported everywhere?
All modern browsers display WebP, but some older desktop software and print services do not, which is why converting back can be useful.
Are animated WebP files supported?
Only the first frame is converted, because browsers cannot re-encode animations through a canvas.
Does my browser need WebP support to convert to WebP?
Yes. Current Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari can all save WebP; if yours cannot, the tool shows an error.
