Frequently asked questions

Will converting to PNG improve quality?

No. PNG stores the JPG exactly as it is, but it cannot restore detail that JPEG compression already removed.

Why is the PNG larger?

PNG is lossless, so photos typically become two to five times larger than the JPG. That is expected.

Does the PNG have a transparent background?

No. JPG files have no transparency, so the PNG keeps the original background.
